Previous Form
The previous form, when looking through a lens of being used by older people, is not exactly user friendly.

After completing competitive analysis and secondary research into sleep diaries and sleep applications, our team of 4 began individual sketching sessions.
User Flow
Next, came our user flow, where we planned out how the application would work, and where each screen and button would lead.

Our team then did a second iteration of low-fidelity sketches with the whole group to start forming the visual identity of the app. The plan was to make all buttons, text, scroll wheels, etc. large and bold enough to be seen better by those who may be visually impaired.
Mid-Fidelity Prototypes
The next step was mid-fidelity mockups using Figma for user testing. Here, we referred to classmates and professors to go through the mockup and tell us when something worked, didn't work, was confusing, etc. This phase led us to make many changes, such as removing the analog clock interface all together and leaving the arrow buttons to choose wake up time, for example.

Sleep Diaries Research App
In May of 2025, I had the opportunity to work with Northumbria University in Newcastle, England for a study abroad. This project, in collaboration with professors Lucas Franca and Mario Leocadio-Miguel, aimed to create prototypes of a sleep diary-like mobile application in which older people may report their sleep habits for research purposes.
